Hello all. I was looking for a good Super Duty/PS forum to ask a few questions, I hope this is the place.
I have borrowed my grandfathers f350 for a few weeks and wanted to fix a few problems that he conveniently ignores. The first issue was the windshield washer fluid - no fluid coming out.
I checked the lines, blew through the pump and no clog, blew through the sprayers and no clog. I then replaced the pump since its such a cheap part. That still didnt work. When you press the button for the washer fluid, the windshield wipers activate like they should, but no fluid. I then checked the relay, and its good. I have kinda given up on this, thinking its either the switch or the wiring, neither of which I really want to get into. Any ideas?
This morning, I got in the vehicle to drive to work. After leaving the house, now the ABS light is on, the "Overdrive Off" light is flashing, the cruise control does not work. I thought it might be a fuse, but I dont see one thats associated with all of those components. Anyone have these issues or any thoughts?
Thanks for you help. BTW, the truck has 155k miles, 7.3L, 4x4. I towed a trailer with it tuesday and all was good. I used 4x4 briefly yesterday, and no problems.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the fan for the HVAC blows all the time, even with the key off. You have to turn the mode selector switch to the off position for the fan to stop.
Get a code reader and start there, a flashing OD light is a tranny code. Did he buy it new? Has anyone done any 'custom' accessory wiring? Also, intermittent wierd electrical things can be a sign of a faltering ECM. It controls just about everything.
The ABS/cruise/tranny problem sounds like a speed sensor problem. Does the speedo work ok? A code reader would definitely help in this situation.
this was indeed the case and is fixed now.

I had already checked fuses and relay with no luck. Did some looking however, and noticed that the pump I purchased was not direct plug and play and require splicing in to the existing wiring. Well, one of the splices did not penetrate the insulation on the wiring and therefore was not making good contact. Its fixed now.

Even with the key off?...I dont think that its designed to drain the batteries like that... It hasnt been doing it lately, but I think its a problem in the resistor or relay or switch. I will see if it does it again.
