5inch Exhaust

I have just bought a 5inch exhaust and was told that it will effect my trucks performance due to i have no other upgrades yet is this true, i plan on adding a 100 horsepower chip after the exhaust is installed

There is a chance that it can. Most people from what I heard recommend a 4 inch until you hit about 500 horses and then once you get around 500 to go for a 5 inch. I don't know if they say that because 5 in both 500 and 5 inch or if there is truth in that, that is just what I have heard(from the performance gurus, not just the average modding joe).

I ran one without doing research first and no other mods and it did move the powerband up just a tad. With the tuner, it seems like i got it back where i need it.
