Hey guys,
I ‘m looking to buy four after-market gauges for my 7.3.
I had bought a four gauge pillar mount (a year ago…now that I’m digging my storage for space and I keep finding things that I bought for my truck but never got to installs them, a pair of semi truck wheels too!)
I have sorted three gauge until now, namely: 60 PSI boost gauge, exhaust temp, transmission temp and forth one is open for options………..???? any ideas?
I would say that it is important, but not as important as water or oil temp(no need to go thru that debate). These injectors don't like being starved for fuel and if you do something like the Fuel Regulated Return I would have a gauge in the cab for fuel pressure as that could be taxing to the stock fuel pump depending on how high you raise that pressure and you won't know it til your injectors start going on you because the fuel pressure gauge that comes with the kit goes underneath the hood and that doesn't do much good unless your changing the pressure or just have the hood open with the engine idling for some reason.

coolant , its the water temp..... id go with fuel pressure but i dont wanna change your mind, id like to know for sure that my fuel pumps are giving the injectors sufficient fuel
BTW, What is the difference between the temp gauge ( stock ) and oil temp gauge? What temp is the stock gauge that came from factory measure?
Like what was already said it is to measure water temp(coolant). Now the oil temp gauge should read about 20-25 degrees higher then water temp should(most of the time people would see 195 on water temp so that would be round 215-220, now there are alot of variables that come into play here, but I would say that would be round the average). Be the way, the coolant temp gauge isn't a good gauge to go off of either unfortunately. You would think that with as much money as people pay out for these trucks that they would have the display be accurate, but nooooo. Might as well not have put them on there in all honesty.
