Exclamation best programmer(chip)?

I want to get a programmer in my 2000 f250 7.3. I'm looking for better fuel economy, power sometimes and still be able to tow when needed without damaging anything. Any recommendations? I also am planning to get exhaust and intake at the same time. THanks!!

the thing i like about things like edge is its your programmer and your gauges and in some cases what reads your codes.. i mean why would you buy a dvd player, vcr,cd player, and mp3 player all seperate when you can get it ONE console for cheaper(in most cases). now i know im gonna get lit up on this but i know there is quality differences but that is in everything no matter what you get. when it comes to programmers and chips its how much you wanna spend or blow whichever term fits best. SOME ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS but along with "better" comes more higher price tags for doin the same job. if your not gonna pull or race i think a edge or something along that line would do you great. i know most people are gonna be totally against what ive just said but thats my opinion. just remember no matter how good people say they are NOTHING is gaurenteed to not harm your motor. some are just known for different things

I've had an Edge w/ Attitude on my 6.0 for quite a while and I really like it. I regularly get 19-21mpg on the highway and 13.5 while towing my 12k 5th wheel. I'd agree that its nice to have everything in one unit that mounts like its a factory install.

I know some people here like to bash the Edge, but nobody that I know personally who has one has ever had any issues as a result of its use.

Now, if you wanna drive around all day or hot-rod often with a tuner on the most extreme settings, you're just asking for trouble no matter the brand.

FWIW.

hey Nebmike. You have a 6.0 I have a 7.3. Think it will perform differently despite the different motor?

I'm not familiar with using the Edge on a 7.3... but if they make it for your application, I would presume it would be very similar in terms of function and performance.

Do yourself a favor and go down to the 7.3 fourm and see what everyone with the 7.3 is using. Many of the people here have bought off the shelf tuner/chips and after buying the DP-TUNER, the difference is unreal.

I had a Superchip for 4 years before the DP. I have more power and better shifting in my 40hp setting then the performance setting on the superchip. I do still use it for reading codes and to hold down the paper work in my shop.

Do it once, do it right.
