I stared at the hood for a while and figured that the sides of the "scoop" could be made from the outside edges of a doner hood, rather than a straight up and down piece like on most cowl induction units. This is a combo of your and Dave's idea. I followed the taper of the center ridge so it has a wedge shape to it. I started it at the front of the hood. It was the only way I could resolve the center ridge/scoop transition point. The center ridge is bothering me a little... might need to be omitted, it's starting to look like a mountain.

These pics made me go stare at at my hood and I would agree on having no center ridge however I would consider making the sides of the new rise parallel to the existing rise to blend it into a stock look which is what I am "assuming" you are looking for.

Personaly the center ridge give it charactor I would keep it. Also you have angled back matching the center rise, if you eliminate it then you will need mimic the second risers on the hood or it will look alittle odd.

I agree. The center and the first riser are formed with two different angles so I had to pick one. I thought the wedge was a bit more interesting. Without the center section, the entire scoop could be made by simply cutting out the center ridge and about an inch beyond the outside taper of the first ridge and bringing the two center sections together. There would be a weld down the center, one down either side and one in the front. They would however be four foot long welds...
