engine swap/trans?
I have a 96 f150 4x4 with a 5.0 and 5 spd. i want to put in a 351 and would like to go with an auto trans. which would be best, the majority of the time im on the road (daily driver) but do get in some fairly nasty offroad situations while hunting. it has 33 inch tires now but i plan to go higher. would a overdrive trans hold up? any suggestions are appreciated, also would i be able to keep my transfer case or change it as well

Hummm a swap
You will save yourself a lot of headache and money if you just trade the truck in for what you really can use.
I've been modifing this f150 since January . And still have not compleatly mounted the rear suspension up. It's getting close though.
I went from an f150 2wd suspension to an f350 dually suspension.
I've swapped the AOD transmission out for a C6, But I'm having shift rod position setting problems. The C6 is a 3 speed and the AOD column only has 3 forward drive positions, but it's not hitting correctly. I will also have to have the drive shaft cut on both ends and balanced.
It's a major project.
The frames were the same, but all the brackets were different. So I have had to grind all the rivits off, and drill the frame and brackets out to hold 1/2" bolts.
Eventually I will have the 9" of lift and 10 lug 24.5" Semi Truck rims on it.
And will sit equivelently to having a set of 40" tires on it. This will be with factory semi truck tires.
