Well, after 30 years in the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, I am going to retire! Been in the same small town on the same route for 30 years; going to miss all my co-workers and the people I deliver to as for many of them I have been their mailman for 30 years! But it is time to do what I want to do, and sit inside and watch it rain! Am 58 and looking ahead to travel, hobbies, and some part time work. It's official May 1st.!
I'll probably get another negative rep from "brmpipes" for this, but here goes:
Postman John was making his rounds on his last day before retirement. He walked up to Candy Jones mailbox and made his drop. At the same time the door opened, and there stood Candy. She was in a sheer negligee, and invited Postman John in. She took him to her bedroom and entertained him for an hour or so.
Afterwards, she took him to the kitchen and cooked him a scrumptious breakfast. As they sat drinking coffee, Candy hands Postman John a dollar, and he says, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" Candy replies, "No, go ahead." He replies, "For all the years I have been on this route we haven't spoken a half dozen words to each other. Now, I get the king treatment. Why?" Candy replies, "Well, last night I told my husband that you were retiring today, and felt a little badly that I hadn't had much dialog with you, and that you had been a wonderful mailman and I felt we should get you something." My husband replied, "F--- him, give him a dollar. Breakfast was my idea." jd
Been fully retired for a little over a year now, it's great, you'll love it. After I left my state job worked as a part time carrier for a year and a half.
I retired over a decade ago and love it. I went to bed at 2:00AM, got up at 11:00, had a great breakfast/lunch and out to the garage to work on my latest project. ENJOY!
