So I bought this 2000 F-350 with quite a few upgrades already in place, AFE intake, 4" exhaust, garrett BB turbo, and chiped... my ? is this guy installed a edge ez 60hp module and the Edge evelution programer set on Extreme... Let me tell you this thing hauls *****!! big time... but is this safe to run these stacked or not? I blought the truck with some problems, ie.. loads up at an idle and smokes pretty bad after about 30 seconds of idle and at start up, I have changed the GP's and GPR to no evail.. still got bad smoke whitish/blue.. took it to ford, they tell me that 5,7,and 8 inectors need replaced, I have ordered the injectors and I am going to put them in this weekend, but do you think that the stacked programs have anything to do with the injectors going bad? thank you for any input on this, for now I have unhooked the edge ez, and just left the eveloution set on the extreme. still gets up and moves, but I can tell a differance without the ez hooked up.. will still smoke the tires at 20 mph.. if I lay into it.. but just not as much... thanks!
so the stealership didn't give you a lecture about chipin?he he well about the smokin part ill let sum others chime in on it.. since im only a junior user i still learnin too.
The Edge extreme setting is probably over fueling and causing all the smoke. Can you try it on a less aggressive setting? May get rid of the smoke and loading up problem.
I have tried that, I remove the edge crap compleatly and still the same results, just with out the added power... I set it back to stock and removed the edge ez... No dif.. still loads up at an idle and smokes like hell, once I drive it maybe 100' all smoke is gone, until I come to an idle again... then starts to miss a little and rpm fluxuates from 700-850 or so... up and down... ???? I'll replace the inectors on Friday and hope to hel this solves the problem.... Thanks for all the help here guys!!!! it is very appreciated!
get rid of the egde junk and get a dp, no comparison
Caw Caw, That wasn't his question.
I take it Ford did a contribution test on the injectors and this is how they determined they were bad? I guess you have to take them at their word. The only thing that makes me REALLY nevervous is having changed the glow plugs already. (But you said you had the samb problem before and after) MANY people have had problems with the UVC wiring harness (Under Valve Cover). If these things have a faulty connection it will make your injectors look bad, when in actuallity it is the signal telling them to fire that is bad.
The final thing I have to scold you on is not getting bigger and better injectors!!!
