Cylinder contribution problem
I have a '03 7.3, rebuilt about 2000k ago, replaced injectors, + am having a hard time with cold start, once started I have a fairly rough idle until warm then it settles out. Glow plug system works fine, fuel delivery + pressure fine,
cylinder contribution test varies between cyl 2, and cyls 4+6 having problem(seems to change depending on which way the wind is blowing).
The 9-pin plug is wired as follows:
G G I I C I I G G
G=Glow Plug +
I = Injector +
C= Injector Common
The injectors fire with a 115VDC signal from the IDM. Do Not pierce the wires to test.
Test between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms.
To check glow plugs Test between "G" and battery ground. Should be between 0.6 and 2.0 Ohms
It looks like you joined back in 2005, but haven't spent much time here. There's a lot of knowledge around here. You might check in every once in a while and check things out.
When you put things back together did you make sure none of the wires were going to rub against anything in there? If you get any of those moving parts rubbing on a wire it can cause problems too. Here's a link with some pics on what to look for.
