Hey guys. A few weeks ago the fuel heater in the canister shorted out and blew a fuse on my 2000 f350 powerstroke. Now The radio wont play, the whippers dont work and the heater only blows on defrost while the key is turned forward. Everything works fine in reverse. Also sometimes right after start up the power windows dont work. All the fuses are good, I checked the visually and with a test light. Are there any relays or anything else that works all these together?
On a 2000, I think the GEM is mounted to the fuse box. I can't remember if it was only the F150 or all full sized trucks that had a TSB on the windshield leaking on to the GEM and shorting it out. I think they started putting the GEM in the cluster in 01 or 02, my 02 has it in the cluster.
This module runs most of the body, wipers, door ajar/locks, window motors, turn signals (I think) and 4x4. It's comparable to Chevy's BCM (Body Control Module). Unfortunately, the tools required to communicate (J2535 pass thru converter and software) are rather expensive. The dealerships are usually the only place to go to check it.
Dude are you kidding?550 bucks wow. I'll have to take it to the dealership and see I guess. I think the turn signals work atleast I know the arrows on the dash light up and I dont have automatic 4 wheel drive. Anyhow I appreciate it and I'll get back in a few days when I get the time to take it in.
