Good afternoon
can anyone out there give any input on using Sea foam in the fuel tank to clean the injectors ,i already use bio fuel at about 5% but i have noticed a big drop in performance and milage . pro's or con's ?
I have heard good things about the Sea foam additive. There are some here that have used it and report good results. With only 107K on the clock I would think that your mileage and performance issues most likely are as a result of other issues such as leaking IC boots/blocked EBP tube/leaking up pipes/ etc.
I have used Seafoam in gas engines and it works great but haven't tried it in my PSD. The 5% bio should be cleaning up any stuff in your injectors anyways. Do what HKusp suggests, that is where I would start.
I use the stuff, and off course it's hard to tell how much exactly an additive does to your engine to clean it, thus improving performance, but I DO KNOW it won't hurt your engine. I usually use DK grey avery fill up or so, but sometimes when she's feeling kinda sluggish, I'll toss in a bottle of Seafoam with about 5-10 gals of diesel in the tank. The bottle says to dilute it more, but I like to power clean stuff. Why use scotchbrite when you can use a wirewheel!
