My wife bent the front bumper on my 97 explorer in an accident and the front left tire rubs when you turn the wheel. I bought a replacement bumper and I as best as I can tell, there are only four bolts.
Is this an easy replacement or am I going to drive myself crazy with this project?
It depends on how badly the original is bent. If you can salvage the old brackets, then no problem. They are not that expensive either, so no real problems.
And yes, its 4 bolts. Mine has been on and off more times than I can count, especially when I was fabricating my fascia...
It was a pretty easy job. The brackets were bent but we got them back into usable shape. I may replce them later. Only problem now is getting the plastic trim piece off of the old one. Got any suggestions?
I used a pair of large channel locks, but any pliers will work. You have to squeeze the pin and push through the hole. I had a few choice words for a few of them...
It is a lot easier if the pliers you use can cover the width of the pin. Only squeezing the center still leaves the outside edges to catch.
