sucks to be those who had this problem way before the start year but a good on toyota for taking note of a crappy product and fixing it. now lets see how many actually get bought back or repaired.
i dont get it... after reading the comments on the page the owners of the affected trucks dont care, thier happy that toyota will cover thier *** (which i would be to) but they arnt botherd by the fact they own a POS and would buy another...
its brand loyalty, look at all the guys who had the junk 6.0s and then went and bought the new 6.4 or some other ford. same concept different company. least they admitted they have a problem. thats the first step to recovery...lol
Toyota did not do this out of kindness. They did this because their hand was kind of forced and it was thier own fault. While I do think it's great for people that owned them, it wouldn't make me feel good about buying another one.
And it isn't an issue that Toyota will be able to brush under the carpet either.
Going to be big bucks... and big long term negative media exposure, no matter how they spin it. Potentially serious legal implications too...
Not good - no matter what way you look at it.

Contrast the attitude & message of that web site with Ford's "blind-eye turning", feet dragging, (Sorry we don't have the parts & don't know when we will) when it comes the seemingly never ending parade of vehicles that burst into flame at the drop of a hat.
Oh wait. With some you don't have to even drop the hat...

Yhea, sorry your car/truck could become a giant fireball at any moment taking you, your home and anyone around you with it. On the bright side, you'll need a new car/truck and we'd love to help you with that!
Lets engineer a quick fix and then find out halfway thru that it doesn't actually work.
Ford dropped the ball on this and they still haven't picked it back up...they're just kicking it around a little. I know this is a huge undertaking, but the longer they wait for the lowest bidder to make the replacement harnesses, the more bad PR is going to be headed thier way.

How many of these fires actually occurred? Ford recalled (notice they didn't call it a reward to the customer they way Toyota makes it sound) every possible vehicle that may have been affected. Toyota offers to help if you find a problem first. Wow, that is so much better. I'd be willing to wager there are more rusted Toyota frames than vehicles actually affected by this harness issue. Ford did the right thing by recalling any vehicle that could be susceptible to this issue while Toyota says they will deal with it if they have to. What happens if someone dies due to a failed frame rail before they realize it's rotting from the inside out?

Excellent discription of a corporate giant's eneffectual handling of yet another safety matter. One that you would think they'd learned enough from in the past to handle this ongoing debacle correctly by now.
And unfortunately it is the one that most of us here hold a more than passing aleigiance to which makes it sting so much more.
One good thing, the survivors will have a good supply of used parts.
Not so...the recalled...err...what ever they call them to sugar coat it...are headed to the crusher. Our first truck loads...refer to the pictures posted by sglaine...they were taken in our lot...are scheduled to go out this week.
