on my 1990 7.3 with a hypermax turbo the air cleaner lid has a large dome or dish that sits inside the filter would i gain anything by removing some or all the the dish for better air flow?
the next question i have the boost gauge does it work off of pressure or vac.? my gauge doesnt work and ive seen gauges on ebay but i dont want to toss money away they have vac /boost combos is that what i need any advise is wecome and thanks u guys are great
I don't know for shure but removing any resriction from the intake or exhaust sounds good to me.The vac/boost combo gauge is for gas engines, if your diesel has vacuume then it is because the air filter is plugged. The location of where the boost gauge hose connects to the engine is the most important. It should be located post turbo closest to the intake on the engine, (search this web site for boost gauge install). Check your hose for kinks or restrictive twists that pinch off the tube. Good luck.
Not sure about the gauge pladement, but the first part (dome/dish) sounds a bit like what people call a salad bowl ... If it is then you would be better off to get out the angle grinder and remove it ... As long as this operation did not allow any unfiltered air into your system ...
i removed the salad bowl and the bost gauge started working ans i fixed the broken wire for the pyrometer but that still dont work another question i have when a turbo is in stalled do u use stock injectors or something differant?
