transmision problem
my friend has a 88 ranger and the trans got stuck in a gear as we were leaving jiffy jube after they topped off the trans and the truck died as we leaving and now wont start or go into park or anything any idea what happend

not if there is too much fluid! I just got done changing my trans filter and valve body I put it back together added 3 quarts and it wouldn't even go in gear at all. I added 4 more and it started shifting. So the proper amount of fluid is important either to low or too high can cause shifting problems. This is just a start might not be the problem but a point to start and look
