'06 auto 4x4 not working

I recently just purchased this truck from a co-worker and he'd had the seals replaced at a dealership just off of warrenty. We recently just had a wicked snowstorm and the auto 4x4 doesn't work. If I manually lock the hubs it works OK. I can live with this as I seldomly use the four wheel drive, but as it was an extra expense as an option, shouldn't it work correctly? Just wondering if any one else has experienced the same problems and what they've done to rectify the problem

What seals were replaced? The wheel bearings are made in one assembly...unit bearings.

Things that come to mind:
(1) Vacuum lines not re-connected
(2) Vacuum solenoid not getting signal
(3) Locking hubs are dirty or damaged

Really need to know what seals were replaced.

Hook a vacuum guage to the hub to see if it will hold vacuum. I am guessing a vacuum line isn't connected like Big Orn said.

Here is a GREAT tech write up (see link). The O-ring seal should be replaced anytime the hub is removed...according to the article.

Thanks for the info. I will take it apart to see if the o-ring seal is damaged. Like I stated earlier it was repaired at a dealership and had to be fixed again shortly after because it was damaged upon installation. My best guess is that it was improperly installed and may be damaged causing the hubs not to engage.
If it were a vaccuum leak, would it be noticable by hearing it leak? Where's the best place to check for vaccuum?

Unless super-sonic hearing...I don't think you can hear it. The best place to check for vacuum is on the tube at the axle end. Also check the nipple on the axle (where the tube goes) for any obstruction.

It's just a piece of crap Ford. They'll probably have to fix it 3 or 4 times before they get it right. Here's the look on the Ford techs face when he's working on it

Nice Avatar pic hahahaha!
