Payload?

I have a 1999 7.3 SD 4x4 and was wondering if I dare to haul 2 ton of wood pellets, for my pellet stove, in the bed or borrow a trailer. The web page I found said only 2,900lbs payload-trailer weight 13,100lbs.
???????????

If you have access to a trailer - use it. Two tons is a little much, not that you couldn't do it, you just shouldn't.

250 or 350? I am going to assume 350 since you said 2900. I would play it safe and use a trailer. An additional 1100 lbs can hurt.

I've had over 5000lbs of mulch (rained for a week straight) in the bed of my truck before, it was just sitting level then.

2007 350 CC LB SRW

I've also had over 6000lb of rock in my 97 F250, but it was squating pretty good. Went about 30 miles no problem, just make sure the tires are aired up.

Will the truck handle it? Yes. Would it probably be ok if it isnt to far of a distance? More than likely yes. Will you get people on here saying that its very dangerous to overload these trucks? Yes. Have I ever loaded a 3/4 ton truck up with 5k lbs in the bed? Yes. (All 3 brands too.) Could it be dangerous? Yes. I say if you feel good with it, do it. Be careful. I promise the truck can handle it! Can you?

What he said.

I've had 2 tons of stone in my truck (which wasn't much volume!) It was squatting a little. 11,400 gross. I knew it was there. That's when I discovered the auxiliary springs didn't do much good for heavy payload, they weren't touching on both sides!

I noticed the same thing with 5k in the rear of my F350, I guess the aux springs are for bumps and what not.
