Been able to find some replacement parts for my 65 thru Napa, usually takes a day or two. May want to consider one key fits all. I would suggest you also purchase the switch, not likely will be able to remove the key mechanism without damaging it. I found best way to remove the lock is by drilling down the center, gradually stepping up in drill size, use the replacement part to determine depth and width. Should the stars be in alignment and you are successful you can return the switch, at least, not in a hold pattern again waiting for another part.
You might consider having a lock smith making you a key for your current lock set, then no need to replace any parts. I would think they could get you a key blank just like our trucks had and if not they are avaiable on line from Dennis Carpenter and I am sure others as well.
That is just my two cents. Look into it, it might not be all that expensive.
ok, i got my self into the truck with a coat hanger... and have pulled the ignition[just out of the dash.]
what you guys are sudjesting is just pulling the center part out via drilling it right??? and then going to a parts store and they should have the center part?
I have had keys made at local hardware stores without a problem. As Jeff noted, most preferred would be to find a locksmith who can come to the house and make a new key at a resonable cost. Many locksmiths in my area are mobil, just not too many with experience, or tools to do it. Imagine it would cost between $70-$80 for both the keys, lock assembly, and switch thru many of the Ford part suppliers, should be able to cut cost thru dealership or local supplier.
When you say you pulled the switch out of the dash, I must be confused. Sometimes I respond to questions coming from experience on my 65 and it's nothing like your 63. On a 65, the switch is secured to the dash thru the key assembly. In order to remove the ign. switch you need the key, it's a key, paper clip, and turning counter clockwise thing. If otherwise, sorry my mistake. If locksmith can't make a key, then seems option is either attempt to drill out the lock without damaging switch, or replace both and in that case don't need to bother with old.
when i was sreewing around with it, i noticed that if you press on the back of the ignition... it goes forward, toward the seat, and then you turn the thing on the chrome thing that says on start and off or what ever it says... and it pops out...
Billy, If your door and ign. used the same key take the panel off the inside of the door, look up to where the lock is. The cylinder is held in place by a slid pressure clip pull the clip and the cylinder should come out.
Take it to a locksmith and have him make you a key. Some malls have locksmiths like Hakky or something like that.

i would do that, except different keys... i was hoping i could maybe find out how to get the doors and ignition keyed the same... cause that would be nice to have...
btw...i was talking with my grandma and grandpa a while back when i was trying to find the key for my chevy, and they said that chevys only had a certian number of keys.... and if you could get the keys to say 10 different chevys that where different, you could open any chevy and drive away with it if you wanted... and mentioned that ford did the same thing....

How did you get the switch out? My 65 you have to have the key and a paper clip. Put the key in and there is a small hole to insert the paper clip and then you turn the key to the left while pushing in on the paper clip. That will un-lock the tumbler and will come out of the ignition switch. Then you can push on the switch and twist to release the chrome bezzel which locks the ignition switch to the dash. To my knowledge all 61-66 were this way. this also holds true up to 79 when the switches were still in the dash.
To install the tumbler just push it in the ignition switch and turn to the right and it will lock into the ignition switch.
I replaced my tumbler and door locks as a set purchased from a local Ford dealer in Montana about 8 years ago. I have no idea if Ford still has the parts but now I have a matching set of door locks and ignition switch.

I find it difficult to believe there is no locksmith service in your area that will come out and make you a key. I have seen a fairly new guy with a blank and file make a key in less than 5 minutes.
Lock cylinders can be picked up at most any parts house and will come with new keys. I have drilled the locks and gotten the old one out and put a new one in. You need to take your time when doing this because if you are careless and reckless you can over drill and ruin the back area. You have to cut to the edge of the keeper but not go through it or your new cylinder wont stay in.
Once you have the ign. fixed a locksmith can change the pins in the door locks and you can have one key fits all.
