i have a k and n cold air intake but do you all think that it would be worth buying an afe stage two? the k and n was already on the truck when i got it. i have an 00 psd. thanks
If you decide to ditch the K&N cold air intake I might be interested in it. But definitely search up on the 6637 mod before you do anything- good idea ditching the K&N BTW.
What does the K&N cold air look like? Could he just get an AFE filter for the end of it? (WAY better filter)
With that said, the AFE Stage II ProGaurd 7 is top of the line. IMHO it is the best out there. (That is why I am going for a cold air 6637...I don't learn real quick)

That's a thought. I would say that he might be able to do that.
so you are saying that a 40 dollar filter is better that the k&n cold air, that is scary cause i always thought that k&n was good stuff. so if i go the 6637 route do i need to get rid of the cold air pipe from the k&n or will that work good enough. or is there by chance a pipe that goes from the filter to the turbo that would be better? i am planning on doing the ccv mod so i aint worried about keeping that part.
The 6637 filter will out-filter the K&N all day long. You can probably plug the 6637 onto the end of your K&N intake, or you could swap back to the stock intake tube if you want. AFE does make good stuff too if you feel the need to have a whole new kit.
Does your K&N have a cold air box, or is it just a filter and pipe?

K & N does make quality stuff....but not for Diesels. The amount of air that a turbo can suck thru is too much for the K & N, although I have heard the cold air setup is better then the drop-in style. The 6637 is the most popular on here for good reason. It filters GREAT.....adds a bit of style with Pete's cover (F250_) and its very reasonable on price compared to others. And recently some guys have come up with a cold-air setup to work with the 6637. I haven't added that part yet, but I plan on it
my filter looks good, i have used the recharge kit on it sincei have gotten it trying to help it out. yeah it has the cold air box thankfully. now that its mentioned about k&n not being great for diesels, it reminds me of a cold air kit i put on one of my other cars. when i stood on the gas i could hear it sucking in the air but not with my diesel. maybe be cause the diesel is a lot louder any way but who knows. thanks alot guys for all the help

It's very obvious how much more air the 6637 is flowing once you hear it.....it has a major WHOOSH sound to it when you get on it. It's loud enough that some guys get annoyed by it lol......not me though
Hey Scott, were you guys able to get the tempates plotted??
My BIL hasn't said there were any problems with it (but he was going to do it on the weekend when not as many people were around work I guess they take "government" jobs a little more seriously than at my work). I am going with yes, it worked.
Thanks again!!! Way to be a leader, too!
