Do you run additives?

Just curious to see how many use an additive of some sort. If you do, what additive do you run and why?

EDIT- sorry this was supposed to be a poll, not sure what happened

The only additive I use is DK in my fuel.

OH, and the additive for my limited slip rear.

DK 10 oz. per fill up. If I could find stanadyne around here I would run that instead.

I only use 5% BioDiesel.. Keeps everything nice and clean and the engine runs quieter. Here is study on additives.. Bio is #1..

I try them every now and then. However, so far, most of them have turned out to be snake oils as far as giving more mileage. I'm not too worried about the lubricity study since that study is flawed and incomplete at best.

Same here. I run diesel fuel and only fuel. (Except if it will be below zero then I run DK white bottle)

I have been using Stanadyne performance formula every time I fill up for a little over a year.

I should have clarified I meant fuel additive
I have some DK but haven't started using it yet. Just trying to figure out if it's worth the $ spent to keep running a fuel additive. Not running an additive with ULSD is rumored to be hard on the injectors, does anyone know if there is any truth to this or not?

If I understand it correctly. The process in which they take the sulfur out of the fuel also takes out the natural lubricating properties of the diesel.Somewhere along the line the additive is supposed to be put back into the fuel. But myself like many.Don't trust them to do this properly.

Not running an additive with ULSD is hard on the injectors but that is for the UNTREATED stuff. Treated stuff, which is done at the terminal level is fine. Now, if Bio was a tad cheaper than D2, I would run it for free insurance. However, I wouldn't do it on my dime unless I can get more mileage.

All the study does is allude to "more is better". There is NO mention of how much longer it lasts with X% more lubricity or whatever. There is no mention of what the point of diminishing returns is either. A poorly done "study", IMO. Too many questions left unanswered.

Opti-Lube Summer Blend.

Reasonably inexpensive to use and has a great HFRR score. I'm in South Carolina and the winters are not bad here so I'll use it all year. It quited my engine a great deal. When my son visited recently he even noticed that my engine was quieter than before. A gallon will last a good while.

So what you're saying is the stuff you buy at the pump has most likely been treated already?

I think so. If it wasn't, semi trucks that drive those kind of miles would be breaking down left, right, up, down and sideways. There wouldn't be a need for the Apr 1 shutdown to protest fuel prices. They would be broken down already.

I will run power service a couple of times a year...mostly in the cold months. I don't know if it really helps anything or not but it makes me feel better. I need to baby this truck at least once in a while.
