98 Brake Issues

Got a 98 2 door with SOHC 4.0 mated on the 5spd. Clock's right at 195K, but last week I was headed to classes first thing in the morn and *BAM!* no brakes. Had to turn around and limp it back to the house (running a couple stop signs along the way) to switch to my pickup.

Come to find out, my BROTHER put power steering fluid in my brakes last fall right after I bought it. HA! He should be fixing them, but that's very doubtful. "It's better to run with PS fluid than run low..." he says.
I'm going to deck him the next time I see him.

I HAD been considering selling this old bucket of bolts, no clue how much longer the tranny's got, got to hold 'er in 1st (pops out), something's loose in 2nd (gear shifter pops back and forth if I accelerate or let off the gas), 4th doesn't like cold, and the throwout bearing (I think) is shot in OD.

What my question is: Since it wasn't worth much before I totally lost the brakes, is it worth the bother to try and get the brakes going again and THEN sell it, or just try and get rid of it as is. Haven't had time to visit the parts house to find out how much parts would cost for it, just wanting an honest opinion from the FTE guys (ya'll rock, btw).

Thanks
spence

I'd rebuild the trans and fix the brakes and keep on keepin' on.
