I'm going to be putting my "new" 69 mutt mix truck into primer here real soon, but what color should I go with finally? I've been leaning towards the dark graphite metallic like on the Dodges and VWs, with the thin trim, and no window chrome, or maybe a dark green, almost British Racing Green with the same trim treatment. All the hood emblems and door handles are getting rechromed, the grill is getting polished, it's getting a custom interior and dash, etc.
The truck was originally Pebble Beige, I'm not against that color, but I want something nice.
This truck is going to be a dedicated hauler, but I want it to look presentable.
I like a blue with a touch of a gray mix. Ours is currently blue with a soft green mix and looks pretty sharp. Just wish the PO would have spent a little more time in prep before the paint job (over spray, rust, etc!). Maybe next year we'll get it..
what about a combo, like green and grey, grey cab roof, green body.
I'm actually doing that with my wife's Wagoneer, it's getting painted up sometime this summer as well.
Hmmm, maybe a family color scheme? Except the 72 4x4 is going to be burnt orange and black, but it's a company vehicle.
This is what I am shooting for. Two tone with Blood Red as the base coat with a hint of Gun Metal Gray Metallic to accent with and all Black interior with a Rebel Flag Headliner, dash accented with thin strip chrome, dark as I can find tinted windows, 12" chrome steering wheel with soft black hand grip, chrome window vents, mud flaps 24" wide raised a half inch off the ground with a chrome bullhead accent design, shaved door handles, half chrome headlight covers and 4" peep mirrors. 20" rims and Goodyear Eagle II tires. Black under the hood with the motor Ford Blue and a Orange Fan. Why orange? Why Not? Fog lights, chrome tag brackets with LED brake lights and turn signals with the sound of the six banger talking in the wind as I ride and guide.

Cool, a Wag huh? It just so happens I've got two of those as well. Those thing are fun and addicting as well as the Fords. I'm sure you know of International Full Size Jeep Association . It the FSJ equivilant of FTE.
Ok, sorry for thread stealing.
I'll vote two tone with that british racing green and white, that would look sweet
Oh yeah, I'm on there.
Basically found out two thing I already knew about this Jeep-
#1- Say Jeep and parts prices double
#2- AMC should not have been in charge of designing any sort of electrical system.
It's funny, though, how many parts swap back and forth between this and my trucks.
Ok, I'd like to edit my vote, mainly just that you should use the same two colors, but paint it like a ranger.....just backwards. So green roof and lower half, with a white middle, tailgate, and hood.
That would look sweet!
Jared, what year is yours?
On #1, that is true, and at first they look at you funny when you say wagoneer.
#2, Hit the nail right on the head! Have you gotten the tailgete window sorted out yet?:-P
The tailgate window was actually about the only electrical thing that works. Defroster doesn't, but I think the contacts rusted off the tailgate.
I've been looking for a manual gate, but those are scarce. I do need to replace the key locks, and fix the tailgate switch so I can move the window from the outside.
I also need to replace all the doors since this thing looks like it was in a demo derby, and get that dinky little carb off it for a real one that can flow more than 250cfm, fix the hack rework of the QT controls, and repalce the gear oil the previous moron put in the transfer case.
Know anyone who has a QT part-time kit they want to sell cheap?
I hear ya on the carb, a 4bbl and intake do wonders for these things. You con always use the 2150 for a ford though!
PArt time kits run about 450 new, but I would not be at all suprised if sombody on ifsj has one cheaper. BJs sells QT fluid, along with manual rear window cranks, but then you have to find the rest..... They also sell all the QT switches and such. Defroster shouldn't be to hard, prolly vacuum related.
I would go on, but I feel kinda bad stealing, oops, I just noticed its your thread. Oh well.
What year is it?
It's a 75.
Threw in a set of power leather seats from an 85, and they are out of place. The thing is lifted 4" with cut fenders to run 32's, it's yellow with the woodgrain faded off, and so on-
The windshield defroster is fine, I meant the rear defrost.
I've put up a couple want ads on IFSJA for a p/t kit or even a blown t-case that had been converted, but nothing.
On this one, someone put manual hubs on it but didn't convert the case, the PO thought the chain was broken so he swapped in a new case, the hubs were locked when I got it so I think he didn't want to admit he fixed a non-existent problem. On the plus side, I have a complete QT case with low range box and a good chain (I checked, it's just blown clutches in the diff), I can convert that and then swap it back in, maybe sell the other one.........
I'll have to see how the Jeep turns out paintwise, if it looks decent maybe I'll do the truck up the same.
