Man, I am glad he didn't profess he was driving his trusty F100 at that speed.
Doing 144 mph through 4.30 gears, then engine must have been turning a gazillion rpms.

NO-NO! 3.00s for the highway and the 4.30s were for around the home town and strip. Changing gears with a second pumpkin set up is a 1/2 hour job.
That motor only twice saw over 6 grand and that was on a bet ($200 was a lot of money back then) and it would get to 7000 but not very fast once past 6500. The engine I built for my second Cobra saw 7000 all the time but it wasn't a true street car anymore. No rear seat, battery in the trunk, still had the front disc brake, but no power assist, 5 point racing harness for the driver, enlarged fenderwells for bigger slicks, a cool can for the fueland a fully balanced and blueprinted engine with a 406 tri-power on it; you know the things a guy does to is race car that is still licensed for the street that the wi m me drive to work when she wanted the automatic car to shop or go she her Mom. Yeah it was tough the things I had to do.
My dad can't remember what gears were in that truck. He took the original engine out and put the 428 in it. He also had a cam put in. The truck had a c6 tranny in it. He never ran out of rpm on that motor or ran it to the max. He was doing at least 122 mph the truck had more rpm to go.
