I have the repair manual CD and all that info. I looked @ millions info to, but I can't figure this out. I'd like to know the gear ratio for a 79 2WD rear end. The tag info is as follows.
WDM-CJ 9DE
7 5 9 356A
I think the axle code on the other info tag says 13X (not sure).
I already know its a Ford rearend, not a Dana(no cover on back) As always all info appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know if he did answer your question, but the 75 on the bottom line should be 2.75, which is your gear ratio (2.75:1). The 9 means it's a 9 inch ring gear.
X is for Power steering and the special weight rating of the front axle.
learn something every day.I wasn't aware they put 2.75 and 3.00 ratios in trucks, which in my theory would be almost worthless especially with less than 400 cu.in. to pull it
my '78 Towncar had 2.7x ratio and got best fuel milage between 75 and 80 mph and around town was 12 to 13 mpg
Maybe I didnt get all the dirt and grime off to see the 2. I'll have to take another look. If youre keeping track of post you now have 4 more the me buzzman. Summers coming and I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I get to work on my D.D. and the dumptruck. Always got something to tinker with on these two. Let the race begin. LOL!! This rear ends off a 4x2 with a 302 so probably didnt need the power as much. I couldn't tell ya.
