i know that our trucks take 15" wiper blades, but they seem to be getting harder and harder to find. especially with new wiper technology, our trucks cant benefit from.
my question is, can i put 16" wiper blades on my truck? has anyone done or tried this?
16" blades are super easy to find, and most of the time you can get any blade in 16".
the ones I just put on where those triple edge blades and all I had to do is cut them down to fit, I cut off the extra that stuck out past the end, I used my metal cutting blade on my small disc grinder, cut right through it "Like Budder"
the way my blades go on my 76 is they just slide on the little fingers in the grooves in the blade frame, then they clip at one end and I trim off the other
there's a new 'one piece' design out there, with internal tensioning; walmart carries an affordable version...looks like you could trim them if needed
Yea on that --tension- note Jeffs and maybe others sell --tension springs--that keep my wipers dwn on the glass through the complete stroke.I recommend them.
I to have installed 16" wipers on my 78. Can't remember the brand off hand but they went right on and no hitting trim. I want to say Anco but not positive. I tried adjustable wiper arms on my dump but they were crap. One time across a dry window to see if they worked & they flew apart. Kept the new spring and replaced it in the original arm.
i'm going to measure soon. but if i remember correctly there is about 1" of space at the top of the windsheild, and a 16" wiper would take up about 1/2 of that, so i think they'll work. but at 10 bucks each, i want to measure first before buying new blades.
i never have a problem finding 15in blades...ever lol 7 bucks a piece.
i can find them, but only in the old style ones that for some reason wont wipe the middle of the windshield. the new types seem to work really good, but they don't make them in 15 inch.
