Well, not a huge fan of my 4 speed automatic in my 1997 F350 powerstroke. If I had one more gear that would be nice...I do a lot of pulling and it pushes into gear, especially up-hill, and I'm wondering what options I have for this transmission, because I do not think there are other tranny's for this truck.
Also, I thought about putting the 5 speek manaul in it, but I think there are differences in the cab that would make this difficult. Anybody have any idea?
And finally, what are the differences (minus the addition of the turbo) between the powerstroke (94.5-97) and the pre-powerstroke international 7.3?
i would be interested in putting the torque shift. (im sure they have some fancy way of spelling it) in mine. i really doubt this would be easily doable correct?i would assume it would be cheaper and easier to go with gear vendors overdrive?
Changing the rear gear like MadVan says, would be the cheapest and easiest.
Look here for a bullet proof e4od auto trans (Big $$); Brians Truck Shop
There are a few here that have made the swap from auto to manual, lots of work and get pretty expensive too. No changes in the cab from one to the other.
The biggest difference from 94.5/97 PSD's to pre-PSD's is horse power... bot are good IMO.

The fancy way Ford spells it is TorqShift.
It would be cheaper and easier to buy a brand new truck with a TorqShift than to try and install one in your truck. An aftermarket overdrive would be A LOT cheaper!
Im not quite sure about the torqshift thing, not sure if that would work? Would that be the entire tranny with an adapter plate, then you would have to change ECU????

You'd need an adaptor, then you would need to create a computer to run the trans. The stock one isn't going to do it.
