Has anyone else had this problem? I wanted a CD player in my 1995 Ranger so I bought a 1998-2005 AM/FM Cassette CD Ford radio. Others have talked about a wiring harness adapter and I found one at Wal-Mart, clearly marked for installing the later model premium radio in a 1995 Ford Ranger. I am sure a number of you will appreciate that the 95 radio and harness has two plugs and the 98-05 has one. I connected the harness according to instructions and installed the radio….no sound. When I increased the volume, it increased on the display but still no sound. When I pushed the mute button, it indicated “Mute” and when I pushed it again, it disappeared but still no sound. I took the radio out and installed it in my 2001 Ranger and it played perfectly. I reinstalled the original 95 radio in the 95 Ranger and it played perfectly. I am baffled at why this is happening. Has anybody else had a similar problem or thoughts to share? Incidentally, is anyone aware of a resource for technical info regarding Ford radios and sound systems?
