Hey Guys/girls, I was wondering if someone can help me out, I currently have a 04 F150 FX4 Supercab. The problem im having is when I go to place my shifter in park I cannot get it out of park unless I over ride it, has this happen to anyone before?? I have the consle shift. I can leave it in netural but they I cant get my keys out when I park it so im in a loose loose situation. Thanks
what do you mean my "over ride it"? it sounds like the shift lock is bad.... it is a safety feature so that you cannot shift into gear unless your foot is on the brake. possibly that is bad, and not allowing the latch to release.
From a safety first stand point, check to make sure your brake lights are working. A friend of mine had the same problem and his brake lights werent working, it had to do with a fuse being blown when he installed his stereo, but he could not shift out of park. As soon as fuse was replaced, he was back in business. The fuse was the one for his brake lights as well.
