For no reason, the horn on my 99 F350 SuperDuty Crewcab just started blasting at 4:30 in the morning. It wouldn't stop until I opened a door. When I closed the door, and as soon as the interior light goes off, the horn starts blowing again. I disconnected the batteries, and found the Positive terminals are corroded. Don't know if that is the problem, but I have been having a problem with the door ajar light (on dash) staying on, even though the doors are closed. It also has an REI remote start system. I would like to try an troubleshoot myself. Any suggestions? This is the first problem I have had with the truck.
We've seen this before. It always seems to happen extremely early in the morning. With your remote start system being involved and the horn acting that way with the door opening and closing I'd first check out the door switch. They're known to have a few issues. Spray it down real good with WD-40 and see if that will fix the door ajar light.
I'll search through some older threads and see what other suggestions I can come up with.
I just noticed you said you had a 99. Did it rain yesterday? Some of the 99's had a problem with a leaking windshield where water would drip behind the dash on the back of the fuse panel. Unbolt the fuse panel (the one under the steering wheel) and have a look behind it for any signs of moisture. Disconnect your batteries first in case you do have water in there.
Yes, as a matter of fact, high winds and rain. I was cussing due to the fact I was trying to disconnect the batteries in the rain. I just bought the door switches, but I am definitely going to look under the dash. Thanks!

Before you change out your door switches spray the latches really good with wd-40 and open and close the door numerous times. For your battery terminals clean them up very well and coat the terminals and the clamps with Noalox. You can find this at Home Depot in the electrical is aisle. This stuff is great it is an oxide inhibiting compound and is electrically conductive. You will never have a corrosion problem again.
Found the Noalox. I asked 2 associates at my local home depot about it, and both told me they didn't carry it. I just didn't trust them since you stated they sold it. Sure enough, I found it in the Ideal section. Walked up to them and showed it to them for future reference. It worked just fine. I did buy new batteries, mine were at least 3 years old, and the winters here in Illinois beat the batteries up pretty bad. But everything is working fine, and the horn hasn't gone off again.....Yet!
