say, i got the intake off, turns out i did miss a bolt, had mistaken it for a filler stud...
That usually happens, it always the hard to see rascal that causes the grief.
Now when something doesn`t come apart after I think I have all the bolts out I recheck and sure enough there`s an extra one still in place hiding somewhere.
Are you putting headers on right away too? I found a set of heddman headers(long tube) for my '79 on ebay for $212US but not sure if I should get them yet.
yeah i'm going to order the headers next week. i can get them through pro street performance here in town for 250+tax but no freight or anything. they are heddman long tubes as well. you want me to see what they are for the 460 Marlon?? he'll have them in 2 days...
more progress tonight, i got the exhaust manifolds un-bolted and the driver side cut off... passenger side is tucked against the house and is hard to get at for now. try again tomorrow maybe...
We have the hedman long tube headers on our 77 F150 460. They fit nice, seal well and have decent clearance. The only thing is the collectors end up just past the bellhousing area, so the exhaust on the driver's side going over to the passenger area (because of the front tank in the way) is lower - cannot use the area factory used just under and between the oil pan and transmission. An exhaust shop that actually cares, can make some nice bends and do a neat job. We put a set of Flowtech headers on a buddy's 75 we swapped a 460 into for him, and they were not as nice a fit. I think we payed about that for them too.
Just need to get after fixing up that engine again since she blew up last fall........
