"stars"? IMO you'd have an easier time asking for a T55 "TORX" male tool. This is the Registered Trade Name for these fasteners that you'll generally find in tool catalogs.
My point was that referring to them as TORX is very useful when you're trying to acquire these tools. Just happen to have a massive 3000 page McMaster-Carr industrial tool catalog on my desk. Their nearly 100 page index does not list anything under "star(s)" closest is star drills. In order to find the tools in question you need to know the name TORX, which reveals the full line of these tools. Similarly under sockets or wrenches they list nothing for "star(s)" however TORX sockets & wrenches are there.
What "Keeps (you) straight" is virtually meaningless in this context. Adopting the word TORX will keep you "straight" w/McMaster-Carr.
Some folks call Allen wrenches 'hex keys'. McMaster-Carr listed them both ways, but didn't list "star(s)" keys, they show TORX keys however.
