Cosco , etc.... If you blow that tire you shouldn't be on that path.

You're looking at the wrong tire companies. Look up rickson truck wheels where he got his from. They are commercial grade tires similar to those on tractor trailers. Very hard, thick rubber.

Yes, it's not a car, or light truck tire.....it's overkill ... But I will say I drive my truck hard , tow, even some bad county and off road.... I don't worry about what I drive over

I am interested in your tire solution. What was your initial problem?
Does the truck ride like a buckboard when empty?
What tire pressures are you using?
Did you install the Goodyears or something else?
What is the part number for the rim you purchased?

Thanks. Great stuff. Now all we need is some photos.

I looked around some and found these pics Rickson Wheel Manufacturing

I think the fourth one down on the right might be Matts '04 EB EX, the name and location seem to be a good match. Some pretty cool lookin trucks there, I'm not too crazy about some of the more narrow tires but the wider ones look good. I've heard of folks getting crazy miles (100K+) out of these tires and of course the load rating overkill kinda makes the cost easier to swallow. My main concern would be how much stiffer the ride would get, I've already installed modded X & B codes and that has really firmed up the ride. I like how my EX rides now but these G or H rated tire may make the ride a little too harsh.

Would this tire set up be around $750 per wheel?

Looks really great.

I too would be concerned about the ride with the x/b springs.

Ponz, your question on cost got me thinking so I did some looking around. I figue if I was to upgrade tires/wheels I would be looking at OEM Ford 20" rims with the required $pacer$ and 285/60 tires. I compared that setup to the Rickson package.
Using prices from Rickson's website, Tirerack.com and ebay I just came up with these costs.

Rickson
19.5" x 7.5" powder coated steel rims = $285.20 (x4= $1140.80)
Michelin XDE2+ 285's = $484.10 (x4= $1936.40)
Stainless trim rings = $150.00 (set of 4)
Mounting and match balancing = $380.00 (set of 4)
I did leave out shipping as they are not far from me.
Total of $3607.20 ($901.80 per tire/wheel).

20" x 8" with 285's
King Ranch 20"x8" = $900.00 / $100.00 shipping (ebay)
Goodyear Silent Armor 285/60R20 = $376.00 (x4= $1504.00) (Tirerack)
Shipping for tires = $110.40 (Tirerack)
Wheel spacers = $640.00 (wheeladapters.com)
Mount and balance = $100.00 (estimated)
Total = $3354.40 ($838.60 per tire/wheel).

So the Rickson deal would cost me $63.20 more per wheel to start.
BUT I've seen reports of folks getting twice the miles out of these 19.5" tires compared to regular 'stock' tires. So if that is truely the case I would need to add the cost of a second set of the 20" tires to the equation.
Tires = $1504.00
Shipping = $110.40
Mounting = $100.00
Subtotal = $1714.40 add this to the original cost of $3354.40 for a total cost of $5068.80 ($1267.20 per tire/wheel).
In this situation the Rickson deal actually costs $1461.60 less than going to 20"s (counting the second set of 20" tires) thats $365.40 less per tire/wheel.

I've come to the conclusion that that is a crap load of money either way! And I'm glad my 16" stockers still have plenty of life left in them!
But it is worth more investigation to see if the 19.5" mileage claims are true.

Even though I am rather fond of Michelins, Rickson offers tires that could more than make up the difference between what they sell and the Ford 20" rim build.
