I have a 65 F-100 with a later model (haven't checked the date codes but probably late 70's or early 80's) 351w. The engine is pretty stout as it is. I don't know exactly how many heads I've planted into the rear window or how many junk chevys it has dusted, but I am about to begin my quest for more power The engine is more or less stock. When I purchased the truck I was told that it had been recently built/rebuilt but I'm not sure. It has the stock two barrel and all of the nice egr crap. To make a long story short, I'm thinking of putting on an edelbrock performer rpm intake, performer 600cfm carb within the next few months. Shortly thereafter I'll add at least a mild cam, if not rebuild it with keith black pistons with a little dome. I was wondering what kind of hp increase I can expect from the carb and intake, and how much a performer or similar cam would help. I don't want to go with the entire rpm pacakage, for the truck is way too heavy to sacrifice too much torque. The pistons and other things are just a dream at this point, but the carb, intake, and cam will soon be reality. The truck already has true duals with no cats and modified(hollowed out) glasspacks, along with 4:11 rears. Sorry this is so lengthy, but I couldn't help myself.
