I chose that location because it was easier to keep the wires away from hot surfaces and was close to where my wires exited from the cab.
Untill you see EGT numbers close to 850 or 900 degrees, you will be fine.
The biggest headache using a Power Stroke intercooler is getting the air back into the IDI intake.
Power Strokes are completely different in that area.

When I downloaded those pictures I did know who made the intercooler.
Not sure if it was a Banks or ATS unit now though.

I can help you a bit with the Duramax race.
Insist that you both tow a 10,000 pound trailer while racing.
My experience is I can't catch an empty Duramax.
But if we are both loaded heavy, the Duramax is fair game.
But then again, what use is an empty truck?

Aren't Duramaxes best left empty, as they are a glorified car motor anyway?
(Yes I know they aren't based on a car motor but they have aluminum heads, whimpy cranks and mostly undersized internals, as far as diesels are concerned. Oh yeah, didn't Isuzu desighn it? I know they make trucks but come on!)
