I know this comes up every now and then but I want to get a fresh opinion from people....Thanks.
I need to get a new or remanufactured engine for my 92 Bronco 302. Current engine has low compression, a bad valve, 140K miles, and poor oil pressure (yip, she's hurtin'). I will be towing on the heavy side for a Bronco (6-7000 #s) and want new or remanned.
I've read a lot of different scenarios here and wanted a comprehensive one again on people's opinions on different sources for the engine. Rebuilding for me is not an option. I haven't done it in almost 15 years and I have no time (time is for rebuilding boat )...
I bought a remanufactured engine recently, it turned out to be a disaster. 21,000 miles of use, now it's about to throw itself apart. Ford makes a quality new engine for relatively inexpensive, so either rebuild it yourself, or find a brand new one. Otherwise it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! TK

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Aug-02 AT 09:51 AM (EST)]My suggestion would be to go to Ford. Remanufactured Ford engines are done at Consolidated Rebuilders in Hutchinson, KS. They also make Four Star brand rebuilt engines. The official Ford rebuilds use genuine Ford parts. Both motors are quality pieces. Like Torque King said anything else is a real crap shoot.
Thanks everyone. I don't have the time, space, or deep confidence in my rebuild ability (it's been a LONG time) to overhaul the motor on my own as that time & space will be for overhauling a nice boat
I shot CCM an e-mail ( I don't need 320+ HP anymore tho) and have talked a few times with local ford shops for their remanned engine. I really don't have the coin to drop 3K on a new explorer motor... The ford remanned engine prices I've seen run from $1400 to 2100 The part numbers I've been getting are: F2TZ-6V012ARM and FTZ-6009AARM - anyone familiar with these?
And I also found a good parts lookup online at http://www.holtmotors.com/multiframe.asp?content=parts definitely worth checking this out...
That Four Star / Consolidated, they have a website?
