When I got my truck, the door panels had been replaced by some homemade ones that were covered in vinyl. The arm rest were mounted to the door with sheet metal screws through the door panel and door skin. I bought some repro panels from Dennis Carpenter (very nice by the way) and, when I went to install them, I found 2 holes drilled in the door that I think the original armrest may have attached too. The holes were about 1/4". Are the arm rest suppose to attach with a bolt and nut ? Thanks!
The truck armrest in most cases used a machine type thread run thru at a 45 degree angle and screwed into an L shaped bracket held in place by the same screw.
I have also seen on trucks and early Falcons as they used same armrests the bigger sheet metal screw...Ive seen the first setup mostly though where trucks are concerned.
Ok Thanks! I dont see an angled bracket on my doors. I pretty much eye-balled them to match the picture in the '66 sales brochure. Comfort-wise, I wish i had mounted them about 1 inch lower. Too late now. By the way, the DC door panels were a perfect fit with no trimming required. Some of the aftermarket panels are too thick. i have learned my lesson. I am getting all future repro parts from DC only.
If there wasnt armrests to begin with you wont see the lil bracket as it went on the inside of the door shell...it could be in the door bottom possibly...

Sales brochure? I thought you bought the CD version of the parts catalog.
Sales brochures only show the armrest. What about the clip and screw?

Thanks for giving the details of the quality and fitment of the DC door panels I have been looking at ordering some, but have been reluctant. I have also learned some hard lessons in this area.
