Engine swap suggestions
I have recently bought a 1964 F100 with a 223ci and a 3 spd. i travel 80 miles to and from work everyday. i want an automatic trans but ant find a early C4 for the 223. Also Im bout to sell my dieselt o fuel cost and will be using the '64 to pull my Big block 6-71 blown '66 F100 to car shows. Now I have a 300 and a 460 i could put in the 64 which i have a c4 and c6 for the 300 and a c6 for the 460 i could use. Which would be the best for daily driving and great for pulling? Any uggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a 4 speed 76 f250 2wd, the 300-6 in it was a great puller but it has no get up and go, like when it comes to passing or steep grades, I would have to shift into 3rd gear going up grades and it would do a steady 45mph and pull just about anything, (it had a 8 1/2 ft camper and I towed a 71 ford bronco all over!) it would just get down and go to work, if I was going to tow I would opt for the big block as the power would be great when towing and it would have good passing ability, you may suffer on the mileage with the 460, that old 300-6 got great MPG's.
Also I have heard that auto trannys behind 300-6's are gutless but I have no first hand knowledge on the subject.
