A client of mine wants a set of stairs from her sun room to her concrete patio. She wants 4 steps to a 3'x3' landing then turn 90 degrees to 3 more steps onto the patio. She hates the look of pressure treated wood, stained or not, so thats not an option. She says that concrete, pavers, decorative block or composite decking are way too expensive. I suggested using cedar for the steps and she turned that down because it looks too much like wood. She wants a million dollar look with a $100 pricetag and I've about run out of patience. Anyone have any ideas?
The only thing is, I find that, vinyl is not very sturdy by itself.
When I did my brothers porch I built it with pressure treated 2x8's then covered it with the vinyl... I used Trex for the step boards..
Looks great and solid..
In Home Depot around here they sell 1x3's up to 1x12's that are all white..
They have them for trim around garage doors.. That is what I used over the pressure treated.. I did not used the vinyl decking material.. That is to thick..
I'm going to have to learn how to post pics, that might help. I'm just going to tell her the only choice she has with the money she wants to spend is treated lumber. Thanks for the help
