1964 292 T-stat

I am having a heck of a time trying to find a new thermostat for my '64 F-100...Any one know where to find one? I'm looking for a 180*, 'cause that is what I took out.

I went to the local carquest and all they could get me was a 195*, it was slightly smaller in diameter so it didn't quite fit in there right. I tried Dennis Carpenter, NDP, Blue Oval, nothing.

Well, I bought mine from LMC, and it works just fine.

Have you tried your local NAPA?

1954/64 Thermostat's

Thermostats used on 1964 and earlier Ford cars and trucks are 1/4" larger in diameter than the type used 1965/2008.

These t/stats are not EZ to find in today's world, because most places don't carry them.

A8AZ-8575-D .. 160 Thermostat (Motorcraft RT-16) ~ 2 1/2" diameter

A8AZ-8575-E .. 180 Thermostat (Motorcraft RT-8) ~ 2 1/2"diameter

FTE sponsor GREEN SALES has 10 of each: 800-543-4959.

Thanks, went to Green Sales and picked one up (it's nice having a place like that in town).

Now for the funny part...I put my intake back on, vacuum line, carb, etc. and then I put on the t-stat housing, new hoses, and I'm ready to go. Then I see that hard to find t-stat still sitting on my seat!! What a dumba$$! I'm going to see how it runs without a t-stat for a while...as long as I don't need heat.
