A friend of mine bought an 01 w/ 3 melted pistons and did what you are doing with fine results. Supprised me, but she ran great.

FWIW, I was just at a salvage yard in Billings where they have a complete 2002 7.3 w/ 90k miles on it. They are asking $3k.

She's running

Well I got her up and running this afternoon. We had a couple false starts but now I think we are good to go. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ml#post6293668
This was done on the "REAL CHEAP" so the jury will be out for a while, I hope like for at least 2-3 hundred thousand miles.
The overahul included piston replacements and an assortment of other things. New bearings, rings, gaskets etc.
Salvaged pistons 4 of them, a front cover, and a few odds and ends.
I'm into it about $1000, haven't done the books on it yet. Did all the work outside as I have no shop so the weather was the biggest holdup.
I wired up for an Exhaust Brake and Torque Converter Lockup while she was out. Also reewired the placement of the ETG to the left exhause manifold, just off of #8. One other thing I did was to upgrade all the WVO controls and wires.
I'll post pictures ASAP.
I most certainly want to Thank You guys for all the help. SO THANK YOU!!!
I hope I can return the favor in spades.
