I'm looking at both tires in a 37x12.5x17. I was going with the Cooper which I really like, but the Hankook popped up. I saw it in person and looked really good. It's a 10 ply and comes with a road hazard warranty, including such things as stick and rock sidewall damage with replacement. Has anyone run these Hankook tires before?
Thanks for your info.
Id really check into the warranty hard. I guarantee its based on a prorated system. 90% money back if you pop a tire on the way out the parking lot and at half tread you'd get like 25% back...something like that. Its better than nothing but its not as great as it seems.
I like the way the STTs look but the Hankooks are decent tires too. Id go with the cheaper of the two.
In the family business my dad had years ago, we never had good luck with the 'kooks. We tried a couple of sets of them and the sidewalls separated on 75% of them. On the other hand, we ran approximately 100 Coopers and never had a problem with them. We were rather hard on tires (lots of weight and fast around corners), I personally think that the 'Kooks aren't worth the rubber they are made of. But that is just from my experience, I would think that 4 inch air pockets protruding from the sidewall would be a safety hazard. What do I know?
The NEW Hankook RT03s are a lot better tire than the RT01s they use to have.
I was looking at the two same tires, among others, and decided to get the Hankooks.
I've heard people get good mileage out of the Cooper, and others say they sucked(mileage wise). Don't know who to believe.
I think both tires are about the same, but the Hankooks were cheaper, so I went that route.
Only put about 7K miles on them so far, but the Load range E 10 plys are great for towing, they pull good off road(b/c they clean so well), and there's no sign of wear yet. I expect to get 40-45K usefull miles out of them..... not riding 10K miles when they're bald.
Either way, make sure and rotate them often if you want them to last.
