I just like how I compare to other trucks in fuel mileage.
I just completed a 2000 mile trip over the weekend from middle/west Tennessee to PA. with bad up-pipes and I got right at 18 mpg. with 3:73 gears and 315 tires.
I don't think those pipe's are too bad then. 18 is above average I would say.
Driver side pipe real bad......black soot all down the side of pipe and bad exhaust leak heard from in the cab when my foot in in it......Just picked up my new bellowed up pipes today....will be fixed soon.
I'll average 18 to 20 with nearly no load highway driving on long trips. I've had as high as 24mpg before (all-time high). And I've got 265s for tires.
Under load? (slide-in camper, trailer with large ATV, etc., or boat)......14 to 15.
What's average highway economy empty for those of you running an auto with 285's and no tuner? (or am I the only tuner-less member? ) I'm hoping for 18 mpg.

As stated above I got about 18mpg ..........Info on my truck that I forgot to post the first time, stock exhaust, No tuner, 6637 filter
crewcab F-250 4x4 SB, 6 inchlift, 315 tires, and 3:73 gears (and bad up pipes)
So, since you are doing the comparison, what do you have. Is it a LB or SB, CC, or ect.
This is just for my own reference, my numbers seem to be about common for the truck I have..I was just wondering what you had that was pullin those numbers.
If you got those numbers with bad up pipes and 35's that's real good, now go fix those up pipes and let us know what you get then. O by the way what brand tires are they?

Damn, I am so jellous... I have never seen numbers like that. I only lost MPG when they changed fuel, otherwise, my numbers are the same no matter what....

Picked up my new bellowed up pipes yesterday will be installed soon. I just hope I don't do a 2000 mile trip anytime soon but will check milage when I hit the big road.......just to many starts and stops with hills from work to home to compare what i got out on the road. The tires are Nitto Tera Graplers.
