P0603 code

I am not getting a CEL or anything of that nature...........truck is running great in fact...........but I pulled the codes because I'm a curious sort of fella and got that one. I reset it, drove it a bit, checked again............same code.

Can't find any reference to it anywhere............hoping you guys can tell me what it is.

I'm a little concerned as when I changed the oil it was bad nasty..........the filter had a date from Jan of 2007 written on it in marker with a mileage of about 30K less than is on the truck now...........and it had a factory style K&N filter on it........so I'm betting the p/o didn't take very good care of it.

0603 is just a KAM (keep alive memory) code

MA1 CONTINUOUS DTC P0603 IS SET WHEN THE PCM HAS LOST KAPWR
Note: This code may have been caused by disconnecting the PCM or the batteries.

Possible causes:
battery or PCM has been disconnected.
battery cables loose or poor connection.
battery discharged.
open in KAPWR circuit.
blown fuse.
PCM.
Check for other codes.
Key on, engine off.
Clear DTCs.
Cycle key off, then on.
Perform retrieve Continuous DTCs.

I wouldn't worry as much about that as the filter issues. Have you considered getting an oil analysis from Blackstone to see how things look? You might also visually check the turbo wheel for any sign of damage.

I'm leaving on Monday to head back to Iraq for another 6 months, then home 2 weeks and back out for my last 6 months (26 months total is enough right???) so it will be next year before I can do that but thanks for the tip.

I won't worry about the code then.............do appreciate the response.

Thank you for your service.

Make sure someone starts and drives that thing at least once a week when you get back or you will have more than that code when you do.

Thanks, I should be able to stay in touch from out there.........I'm a DA Civilian and not a green suiter so I don't have to (or get to depending on how you look at it) go outside and play with the locals..........pretty safe job managing some contractors that handle electronic jamming repairs and installations.

I have some people back here that will run it at least once a week, take it on a drive etc..........
