MAP Sensor Operation Question

I can disconnect the electrical connector, go for a drive and read boost on my SCT Livewire...???? Where is this coming from?

I can re connect the electrical connector, take off the boost hose and see no boost.

My understanding is that the MAP is responsible for reporting boost so how does it work when disconnected?

You sure you're disconnecting the correct wire?

If it's the one that goes to the MAP that can be interrupted by a MAP fooler device (electrical version as a cable assy) then, yeah, I am. I don't have a fooler on there now, I had in the past, though.

Weird thing too is that it sets the P0231 code, but no check engine light.

Thanks for responding.
