00 Expedition Oil Pump
Anyway, I decided to peak into the oil pump and removed the hex nut. As I pulled it apart, the spring launched, I closed my eyes, and the spring and relief valve shot out. DOH!

1. I assume that is all there was in that spot.
2. I assume the proper way to reinstall is the put the relief valve in first, with the open holes towards the top, then put the spring in, and put the hex nut back on.
3. Anyone know of a diagram anywhere?
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for looking. My manual had NOTHING.
If I did this wrong, someone please scream now. Looking into the hole, their is an oil inlet at the top, a little ways down another hole (oil return I assume) and near the bottom, another hole. I assumed then that the valve itself had the open end towards the top. The spring went below it, and then the plug. I was guessing about the direction of the valve, assuming that the hole at the very bottom was just a drain for any oil that somehow got past the valve, and that the valve would not allow oil trhough the top hole at normal operation, but would compress and allow oil through. I could not estimate distances, so this was all a guess based on visual inspection.
Make sense?
