Water outlet pipe

I have looked on several sites and can't find the part that threads into water outlet/thermostat housing from the heater hose on my 1990 4.9. Any ideas?

Autozone usually has a variety in either the HELP! line or behind the counter.

It also has the port for the coolant temp sensor.

I guess I'm confused.. Do you need the actual thermostat housing/water outlet itself? Or do I just not remember the threaded part being so elaborate? I thought the CTS went into the actual housing..

The heater hose connects to a metal pipe which is attached to the threaded hex fitting that screws into the water outlet housing. The temp sensor screws into the side of the threaded hex fitting. I need the hex fitting and the pipe that is between the heater hose and the water outlet housing. I surfed the Dorman HELP! site and didn't come up with anything. We have a great shop in Garden Grove that carries all kinds of fittings and I will check there. They stocked the same kind of fitting for my Aerostar, a part I couldn't find at any auto parts store.

Ford dealer items only, and you won't prolly like the prices.

1981 thru 1996 use the same parts.

E1TZ18599C .. Elbow (aka fitting)

Ford suggested retail price: $123.28 / ftepartsguy.com price: $74.03
------------------------------------------------------------------
E2TZ18599A .. Pipe

Ford suggested retail price: $77.76 / ftepartsguy.com price: $46.60

Take a trip to your local dealer (Mills) and ask to see: 1990/2002 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration reference: Section 80 / Page 19 = the entire setup is shown here.

That's thievery. Sucks when you can't get a $5 part for 5 bucks.

Mine's not looking so good. I've been using the Aerostar as a backup vehicle while I change the head gasket and clutch on my ford escort. but now both cars are dead in the water.

I was thinking about going to the hardware store and seeing if I can find some brass or galvanized plumbing fittings that might get me from those size threads back to heater hose but I wanted to see what solutions other people were using first.

I'm gonna try a makeshift repair that my father and I put together. Ground off the old corroded pipe and soldered in a new piece of steel pipe.
