I just changed my sig, so I figured I'd better post a little something up here explaining what I did before everyone goes "WTF?!?!?".
First, I am by no means unhappy with it!! There just happened to be an opportunity for me to take advantage of geography. I live near Tony Wildman, and he can work the same magic on our trucks that Jody does. The cool part is that I can get it tweaked if I change this or that and there's no living without a chip for a week.
I honestly would have been a little apprehensive if it wasn't for seeing his work first hand on a few trucks recently. This man can most certainly tune a truck!! It's the same tunes Rich-WhiteBuffalo runs on his. If you have an opportunity to go with a TS chip, get TW's stuff on it!! You won't regret it.
So anyway, it went down like this: I went to his place and he put some stuff on the chip and we took it for a ride. We tweaked some stuff, went for another ride, yadda, yadda.... So now I have Stock, Hi-Idle, Econo/Daily Driver, Tow, Street/Race, and Extreme. VERY happy with it!!
So what happened with the DP, you ask? Well, the individual I horse traded with happens to live a lot closer to Jody and is going to Smokin' for live tuning. Turns out to be a win-win for both of us. If he wants to make himself known, I'll let him do it...
That sig has not changed. I confess, it is me. Joe has more reason than you know for swapping out as do I. Live tuning cannot be beat, and Tony knows his stuff.
Nic --> No difference in the SoTP dyno from what I can tell. The Extreme tune is like the DP 140, and it seems a bit different. Can't really tell faster or anything, but in that tune when you touch the throttle you better be ready to go because you are gone in a shot!!
Mike --> Are you using FireFox or IE? Hold the shift key and click the reload button. Should work the same on either, but you might have to try ctrl or alt then click reload...
Gosh im split down the middle on DP vs Tony wildman - Heres a Q - Does Tony tune for a VB? anyone have pro's and con's ? Which is better for the tranny? Which is cheaper?
This may be a matter of preference. I happen to have installed a set of injectors and turbo that do not like what Swamps has tuned for them. Prior to that, I had DP tunes and the truck rocked. I just want to be done with the issue and Smokin is my opportunity. I almost went TW tunes but since I was going to Smokin I made a trade. He's good, as I figured, now I need fixing.
Shift-reload forces your browser to completely reload the page you're on. You have my old sig in your cache, so this will get the new one. The other option is to clear your cache completely of course. But that's a hassle.
Regarding price, it's about the same if you fill up all six positions. Oddly, if you only get two or three tunes, the DP is cheaper. I spent about what six tunes in the TW chip costs on my DP (about $475) for about the same tunes. Your choice...
