The early 351 heads are a good candidate for a low budget DIY porting job, they have slightly larger valves than the later castings so they will flow more when ported. The '90's GT40 castings are a better flowing head before porting however, and have more potential with porting.

Thank ya sir! I guess I'll keep looking for an affordable set of GT40's. In my searching for 40p info, it looks like the p's flow a bit better than the standard GT40. Does anyone know of a set of headers that are compatible with these heads that do not need dropped everytime you change the plugs? Can you mill these heads .030 for higher compression without problems?
