After a great towing experience over the weekend, I was a little concerned to see a spraying of oil on the front of my trailer, exhaust tip, undercarriage, etc... Upon closer inspection, I found an un-sustained stream of oil from the driver side of the block, starting from above the exhaust manifold (it's slowed to almost non-existent now)... Anyhow, ICP sensor is ringing in my ears.
The towing performance was spectacular, though. 7800#'s of toy-hauler and toys up-and-down the SoCal mountains to-and-from the desert. MPG's while towing with intent were ~= 9.5. Not bad considering the 0-to-3000 foot elevation change in 10 miles at 65MPH. EGT's never above 1250, H2O never above 215 (then the fan kicked in), trans never above 175, boost pegged 34 once. Total trip was 220 miles on 24ish gallons of fuel.
Issue resolved! It was the ICP sensor after all... My tech had it fixed in about an hour. I'm told that he also did an under-the-hood check of stuff, tightening and adjusting things as needed.
I'm sorry to say that he'll be gone early today so I not going to get he chance to thank him properly until tomorrow or Friday .
I'll pick up the truck after work today though! I've got a Simple Green/pressure wash job to do under the truck to get all of that oil off of everything.
So ozx3+1, the ICP sensor on your truck is located at the back of the engine behind the turbo or is it the one in the passenger valve cover? I was just wandering if it was an early build or late build 6.0.
