How Do I Remove Injectors?!?!?!?

As ya'll may know- I dropped the #6&8 injectors- just worn out... Anyways, I got Swamps 175 sticks on the way, and started taking out the old injectors today. I took off the 5/16ths bolt from the lower part of the injector, and the damn thing feels like it's welded in. Do I need to pry it out or take something else off? The last thing I want to do is break the darn thing!!

You have to pull the bottom bolt off (which you have) and slide the little plate upwards until it clears the top bolt...the it just prys out pretty easily.

I think what we need for this question, because it comes up so often, is a little pictorial along with the steps on how to perform this repair. can anybody help?

Diesel innovations and Swamps have write ups for this. I'll post links in a few. 5/16 or 8mm, whatever. Yes, remove the one bolt, then slide the keeper off the valley side bolt and pry up. Remove the VC gasket for prying. You will need to pry from the valley side on several of them.

BTW, there is a writeup somewhere on this site in the tech article section that sucks. Do not follow it. It needs to be removed and replaced. It is way out of sequence. I'll post the links in a few.

Yes, pictures would be great. I did mine in January outside and nobody here wanted any part of that. It's not that hard but pics are great.

Swamps write up is here under FAQs

Here's DI's stuff with a few pics. Skip the pulling the fuel plug in the rear of the head, waste and hard.

Dan has about the simplest way to do this. I like to pull the allen plug in the rear of the oil rail to keep the oil if it is fresh and you are replacing one or two. For you, replacing all, who cares as you may be changing oil anyway which is what I did. I went synthetic and drained every bit of oil out of the rails and the HPOP. It was black in there. Just get or borrow a mighty vac and suck the cylinders out.

HaHa, look what I found. All of you who scoff at my sink strainer can bite me. See it here.

OK, I managed to get the driver side out with an old small pry bar. Those things are really in there.

Now that I know how to get them out- what's the easiest way to get the passenger side valve cover off? There are two bolts on the lower part that are blocked by the heater core / fan box. I'm thinking I'll have to pull off the pass. wheel inner fender plastic thing and get to them that way. Any advice on an easier way?

I'll take pics tomorrow of the process and post them on this post. My #6 and #8 injectors had some crap on them that looked like black scaley stuff. Here's a pic of 2,4,6,and 8. Well, forget the pics- for some reason I can't post pics uuuughhhhh. Anyways, 6 & 8 got junk on the fuel side (the darker, lower band) and the #4 tip is actually silver, where-as the other 3 are golden colored. What's up with that?

heres a pic of one of my injectors that i removed! be careful tho thay wiegh 3lbs dont drop them on your feet!

anyway there really not that hard too remove just pry them straight out!use a screw driver or a 12inch pry bar!heck i used what ever was in my tool box !and dont forget to remove the oil before u install the new ones(very important) just crank the engine/with towels over the holes to get the oil out!now when u go to install your new injectors make sure u lube up that injector really well r u will hurt them o-rings!

OK, i'm a dummy- the pics where too big, so here they are smaller.

The last one shows where I guess I broke the wiring harness from the gasket. Can I just zip tie it back on, or do I need to buy a new one now?
